"Sessão mágica e energética". Foram estas as palavras que resumiram o pensamento que tive após ter feito um único e torrencial take no Estúdio Menasnota, no dia 16 de dezembro de 2019, com o saxofonista Thelmo Cristovam. Vim a convite do mesmo, com uma mútua vontade de registrar sonoramente uma circunstância que era além de uma mera circunstância. Trata-se de uma improvisação livre e puramente acústica em que o meu violão de aço, em afinação hexacordal (de notas não-repetidas nas 6 cordas), e o C-Melody buscaram tanto diálogo, quanto limites inexploráveis de timbragens. Os dois instrumentos buscam uma liberdade de parâmetros musicais em que as fronteiras entre a pura autoexpressão e a sublimação do ego são completamente borradas. No saxofone de Thelmo Cristovam senti tanto o aboio, quanto o silvo agudo de um pássaro, sopros em transmutação alquímica. Meu violão tanto procurou as paisagens, quanto as criou em linhas melódico-harmônicas que remetem livremente entre o desértico sertão e os conflitos urbanos. Enfim, por trás da livre-improvisação, um encapsulamento de uma nova época, política e socialmente adversa ao que desejaríamos de melhor. Fomos conduzidos pela revolta contra os retrocessos e movidos pela pura vontade de avançar e se mirar no futurível presente. "Em Mangue Seco, Terra Arrasada, Aves Partidas" é um reflexo de todas essas condições e um grito de liberdade.

“Magic and energetic session". Those were the words that summarized the thought I had after a single and torrential take at Menasnota Studio, in December 16th, 2019, with the saxophonist Thelmo Cristovam. I came with his invitation, with a mutual will of sound recording a circumstance that was beyond a mere circumstance. It’s about a free and purely acoustic improvisation in which my flat-top guitar, in hexachordal tuning (non-repeated notes on the 6 strings), and the C-Melody were seeking dialog, as much as unexplored tonal limits. The two instruments pursuit for a freedom of musical parameters in which the fronteers between the pure self-expression and the ego’s sublimation are completely blurred. In Thelmo Cristovam’s saxophone I felt the aboio, as much as the high-pitched whistle of a bird, breaths in alchemical transmutation. My guitar searched for the landscapes, as much as created the them in melodic-harmonic that freely remit among the desertic backwoods and urban conflicts. Anyway, behind the free-improvisation, an encapsulation of a new age, which is politically and socially adverse to what we would wish at best. We were conducted by the rebellion against the regressions and moved by the pure wish to progress and to aim at a futurible present. In Dry Mangrove, Wasted Land, Broken Birds is a reflection of all those conditions and a scream of freedom.
